Scleroderma, or scleroderma symptoms, can occur in overlap with other illnesses. (Also see What is Scleroderma?, Types of Scleroderma and Systemic Symptoms)
Overlap connective tissue disease syndromes. Overlap Syndromes (OSs) have been defined as entities satisfying classification criteria of at least two connective tissue diseases (CTDs) occurring at the same or at different times in the same patient. Autoimmun Rev.
Familial Aggregation and Segregation Analysis in Families Presenting Autoimmunity, Polyautoimmunity, and Multiple Autoimmune Syndrome. Data suggest that polyautoimmunity and MAS are not independent traits and that gender, age, and age of onset are interrelated factors influencing autoimmunity. PubMed, J Immunol Res. Scleroderma in Overlap. When Systemic Sclerosis (in either the Limited or the Diffuse form) appears in conjunction with features of one or more other connective tissue diseases (such as Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, Polymyositis, Dermatomyositis) it is called "overlap." ISN.

Connective Tissue Disease (CTD). Connective tissue diseases include systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, polymyositis, and dermatomyositis. ISN.
Mixed Connective Tissue Disease is an overlap of clinical features of systemic lupus erythematosus, systemic sclerosis, and polymyositis, along with very high ribonucleoprotein autoantibodies, but without antibodies for other specific autoimmune diseases. ISN.

Multiple Autoimmune Syndrome (MAS) is the coexistence of three or more autoimmune diseases. At least one of them is usually a skin disease, such as psoriasis or scleroderma. ISN.
Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Disease (UCTD). When a person has symptoms of various connective tissue diseases without meeting the full criteria for any one of them, it is often called Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Disease. ISN.
Shared Autoimmunity is a rather loose term. It variously refers to autoantibodies, symptoms, or presence of autoimmune diseases within the same patient or within several or more members of the same family. ISN.
