Dee: Daughter of Scleroderma Patient

I am not going to lie, I am very, very scared.

Flower and Butterfly by Ione Bridgman, ISN Artist My mom is my best friend in the whole world. Three years ago she was diagnosed with scleroderma. Not only did she have to deal with the stress of that, her sister was diagnosed with CREST scleroderma ten years prior.

When we found out about my aunt we were very saddened. We all developed a very close bond over those years. She was taken from us May 15, 2004. She was a beautiful person.

I am not going to lie, I am very, very scared. But I know that will never compare to the fear my mom has. The only thing I can add is make every minute count with a family member that has this silent disease, make it precious. I know I will.

I love you momma, with all my heart.

SCLERO.ORG was the world's leading nonprofit for trustworthy research, support, education and awareness for scleroderma and related illnesses from 1998 to 2021. It was a grassroots movement from the original Scleroderma from A to Z web site, which was founded by Shelley Ensz. We were a 501(c)(3) U.S.-based public charitable foundation. We closed this web site and our nonprofit agency in April 2021.
