SWAlist for Scleroderma Webmasters

SWAlist@yahoogroups.com is an exclusive and moderated message board and e-mail list only for members of the Scleroderma Webmaster's Association, where we share information and assistance for webmasters regarding scleroderma medical, patient organization, and web site news.

If you are a patient or caregiver looking for a patient email list to join, please see: Support: Email Lists.

Once your web site has been approved for membership in the SWA, or you have been accepted into our SWA mentorship program, you are eligible to join the (totally free) SWAlist@yahoogroups.com.

This is an email list where we share scleroderma medical and support organization news, plus questions, answers, and tips regarding website management and development.

Members receive a copy of every message posted to the list, and at the click of a button can send an email to everyone on the list at once. This is a super way to stay on top of scleroderma news and to get the word out whenever you add a new web page, or service, to your web site. Its also a great way to get to know your fellow webmasters throughout the world.

Join now (or at any time) by signing up with Yahoo Groups for Scleroderma Webmaster's Association list at http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/SWAlist/

Further Info on SWAlist - Our Welcome Message

I would like to introduce the volunteer moderators for SWAlist. In "pecking order" they are:

1. Shelley Ensz
2. Judy Tarro ("Aunt Judy")

All messages to SWAlist will be reviewed by a moderator prior to being released to the list. If you submit anything which falls outside of our rules or guidelines, we will let you know privately and work with you to adapt the message to suit our various picky-picky restrictions.

SWAlist will be very strict about following copyright law. That means we will only accept postings which are written by you. If you want to share information found on another website, please do this by writing your own explanation of the item, followed by a direct link to the original article.

SWAlist will not allow links or promotion of Scleroderma sites which are not members in good standing with the SWA. You can check the current SWA membership list yourself or let the moderators check for you. (Some Scleroderma sites ar perfectly fine yet simply are not SWA members yet.)

Topics which we really encourage on this list include:

1. Promotion of your own website : Feel free, at any time, to post information about your website. We want to hear all about your web site and its development. If you add a patient story, or a news story or ANYTHING we WANT to know about that, as for many of us it is a new "linkpportunity."

2. Scleroderma Patient Organization News : Post announcements for your support group special events and fundraisers. Share or explain your chapter's successful fundraising ideas. Post your Scleroderma news releases, or the link to new Scleroderma news stories on your website.

3. Scleroderma Medical News : You may post your own explanation and links to any/all Scleroderma-related medical news, conference recaps, or links to your pages about Scleroderma medical information.

4. Webmaster News : Anything related to designing or building a web site! Tell us about your favorite software programs, link checkers, gif shrinkers, etc. If something costs money, please list the price too so our budget can tell us whether we want to follow the link or not. Please DO post links to other web resources, to your little heart's content!

5. Your Scleroderma Webmaster Questions : Are you having problem installing a graphic, dealing with a difficult site visitor, do not know how to answer medical inquiries, can't figure out how to add "page 2" to your website? Do you want to add another page but are stumped for topic ideas? Ask away! We'll all be happy to try to help.

6. Please sign your SWAlist emails with your full name, web site name, and web site address. We want to know who you are and how to reach you right away. You can set up your email program's "signature" feature to do this for you automatically.

7. Not a Support List : You may certainly joke around in your emails, and exchange friendly chitchat. This is a fun and lively crowd and we should all be able to enjoy each other's company here. However, please help us keep the primary focus of the list on topics of interest to Scleroderma Webmaster's in particular. This isn't the forum for sharing long jokes (or daily jokes) or lengthy inspirational sayings or poetry, "friendship" links or recipes. If your message is just a personal one, please consider emailing that person directly to help us keep the list focused.

8. Do NOT add any of our members to any lists, without their express permission. This includes joke lists, prayer distribution lists, sales lists, etc. Any unsolicited emailing is called "spamming" and will threaten your SWA and Yahoo! membership.

9. Join today and post away! This list is by and for members of the SWA. Although I will try to provide direction and leadership as necessary, it's intended to be a group effort—this is YOUR list—and I hope to see many of you step forward and become moving forces in the overall success of SWAlist.

Subscribe to SWAlist now.

Thanks to Judy Tarro!
