Purple hands, finger sores led to pulmonary fibrosis. The first sign of trouble came when Barbara Meyer’s hands turned purple in cold weather. Then ulcers, little sores, formed on her fingertips. Meyer, 58, was diagnosed in February 2006 with scleroderma. In May 2006 she was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. P. Cockerell. NewsOK. 04/21/09.
Anti-inflammatory drugs don't cut dementia risk, they raise it. Researchers followed 2,736 members of Group Health who were an average age of 75 at the study's start. AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) Report Details Hardships of Chronically Ill and Their [Medical] Caregivers, Urges Reform. The survey results highlight the lack of coordination that exists within the U.S. health care system. More than one in five chronically ill patients felt their health care providers did not do a good job communicating with each other; nearly as many (20 percent) said their health had suffered as a result. Psoriasis Drug Removed from Market, Mark & Associates, P.C. Offering Free Consultations for Raptiva Patients at www.RaptivaPML.Com. On April 8, 2009, Genentech announced that it was suspending sales of Raptiva in the U.S., due to reports of people taking the drug developing Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy or PML. The company advised physicians to immediately stop prescribing Raptiva for new psoriasis patients and to contact patients currently taking the drug to determine the best course of action for treatment.
