Hello, my name is Yelena Makarov, and I am an ISN English-Russian Translator. I live in the city of San Francisco, California.
I graduated from Moscow State University in Russia, with a Ph.D in Economics. I have many years of experience in English-Russian translation in various areas, including medical.
As a translator I have to read extensively in both languages, and for the news in Russian I usually go online. In researching Russian Web sites, I have often come across postings from people with scleroderma who were desperate for any information about the symptoms, treatments, and effects of the disease. I have noticed that many times their requests for information were left unanswered.
I became involved with the ISN because I would like to be a part of the information network. Through the translation I would like to help disseminate crucial information related to scleroderma to provide support for people with this debilitating disease.
