Hello, my name is Lisa Bulman and I am ISN Assistant Manager for Sclero Forums. I am very excited about this new challenge and being able to offer my support to others affected with scleroderma.

From 1993-94 I had many tests and saw many doctors and was diagnosed with scleroderma and severe Raynaud’s. At the time the doctors believed it to be diffuse but as the years went on my skin involvement was limited to my hands. Although my skin has not been affected much past my hands, I have many internal issues. Most recently I have been diagnosed with interstitial lung disease. In 2006 I underwent five months of chemotherapy to try to stop the progression in my lungs. It went well and held things off for about a year and a half. This past month I finished a trial study for a new medication to treat my lungs. This was the second study in the past four years I was involved in and I am being considered for another one for digital ulcers. My husband Tim, who I have been married to for twelve years, has been my support along with my two young girls Emma and Grace.

In December 2005, I took on the additional role of being an ISN Assistant News Guide, which entails posting messages from the ISN Newsroom to Sclero Forums.

In March 2006, I also became an ISN Fundraiser. Since this field is wide open and much needs to be done to raise funds and awareness for the ISN, I am very excited to be able to venture out into this new position.

My first fundraiser was an indoor Women's Soccer Tournament on June 19, 2006. Six to eight teams played at least three games of forty minutes each. It was a wonderful success, and we raised over $5,000 for scleroderma research, support, education and awareness. We put on a Pampered Chef Party Fundraiser in 2007. Our Second Annual soccer tournament was held on June 22, 2007 and the third one was this past June and our biggest success yet. In total we have raised nearly $20,000. I look forward to raising more money because there is so much that needs to be done to raise awareness and find a cure!

The 2nd Annual Scoring for Scleroderma Women's Soccer Tournament to benefit the nonprofit International Scleroderma Network was another huge success! I am not sure of the exact amount that was raised because donations are still coming in, but it is somewhere around $4,000! There were 40 women in the tournament plus volunteers who made this a success. The women were split into five teams and each team played four twenty-five minute games. Registration began at 6:30 and the first games kicked off at 7:30. Our referees, Tony and Igor, gave up their Friday night to donate their referee skills on the fields as well. We had awesome raffle prizes donated and every player received a gift bag of donated items as well. The Canton Sports Plex generously donated the fields again this year. American Acoustical Contractors,Franklin Sports, Dick's Sporting Goods, Bank of Canton, Barrowsville Station Liquor Market & Deli, Brockton Rox, C. Verc Inc., Elegant Accents, Elite Health & Fitness, New England Revolution, Six Flags New England, Somersault Gymnastics Center, Town Spa and Water Country generously donated items such as admission passes, game passes, gift cards, items for our raffle or gift bags (soccer balls, shin guards, tshirts, frisbees, coupons)! Thank you to all of these contributors and to my friends and family who helped along the way and the night of the tournament!
